Once again, it has been a bustling week for the volunteers at Didsbury Park. From the prestigious afternoon tea with the Lord Mayor in recognition of our volunteer service to hosting educational visits and undertaking numerous park improvement projects, the spirit of community and volunteerism shines brightly.

On a cold, but thankfully dry day, we welcomed 26 volunteers who worked hard on a long list of projects designed to smarten up Didsbury Park. From addressing flooding issues to introducing new cultural elements and improving wildlife habitats, the dedication of our volunteers continues to transform the park into a more beautiful, functional and welcoming space, for all.

Today marked the start of half term for the Didsbury Primary Schools, significantly boosting our volunteer numbers to 35, including junior volunteers. Their contributions ranged from gardening and painting to tree care, enhancing the park’s beauty and safety. Special thanks to Grace for the delightful sponge cakes enjoyed during the coffee break…

Today was a crisp and sunny spring morning which attracted a great turnout of 37 volunteers in Didsbury Park, including new faces and familiar ones working on various projects from clearing fallen trees to gravel relocation and gate area cleaning. A special mention of educational collaboration and a milestone of 40,000 volunteer hours highlight the community's dedication.

Didsbury Park's vibrant community recently celebrated a milestone with the King's Award for Voluntary Service. This recognition has sparked an outpouring of support and congratulations, even from as far as New Zealand. This week, our volunteers have also made great strides in park maintenance and beautification, contributing to the park's flourishing beauty and communal spirit.

Big news from The Friends of Didsbury Park! Today, on the King's birthday, we received the prestigious King's Award for Voluntary Service. This honor, the highest for UK volunteer groups and akin to an MBE, celebrates our commitment to community service in Didsbury.

We had an excellent turnout for the Poppy Path Act of Remembrance on 11th November, with over 50 participants in stunning weather, planting crosses and sowing poppy seeds. This week also saw tremendous progress in our spring bulb planting, with almost all of this year's supply planted, outpacing last year's efforts. Our volunteers, including new faces and corporate teams, have been instrumental in these achievements, from planting bulbs to tidying up the park

We had an amazing turnout of 45 volunteers working in a dry and mainly sunny park this morning. Our volunteers included 4 new volunteers from Kellogg's, 6 new volunteers from NatWest Bank, and Helen from ITV.

In this post, we'll reflect on a rainy morning in Didsbury Park, where dedicated volunteers came together to carry on the work despite the downpour. We'll also pay tribute to a dear member of the community, Chris Miller, who left behind cherished memories of Didsbury Park.

This last week, with great assistance from Murray, they both went above and beyond when, on Wednesday they also did an extra day's volunteering with another large team from Lendlease. The resultant improvement in the park is amazing.

After the weekends deluge of rain followed by some sun, it was great to see a sunny morning in the park. Allan and Sonia had put all the tools and equipment out, so they had an early start!
